Veteran Services 

Guadalupe County is proud to provide services for veterans at two locations, the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) in Seguin, and our office in Schertz, assisting Guadalupe County and surrounding county veterans.

Our staff, with a combined 40 years of active-duty service, offers three Veteran Service Officers who are accredited through Texas Veterans Commission. At both locations, we are eager to assist veterans, families and dependents with accessing VA benefits including disability, surviving spouse, and dependent claims, burial benefits and more. Additionally, we provide guidance and referrals for employment, education, healthcare and numerous other services. We also coordinate van transportation to VA appointments in San Antonio and New Braunfels. Keep reading for the list of additional services that are now available at the new VOC!

VETERANS OUTREACH CENTER MISSION STATEMENT
To provide services, guidance, and activities that enhance veteran lives, in one central location that offers a setting for camaraderie for Guadalupe and surrounding counties.

Guadalupe County Veteran Services provide assistance on VA benefits and community resource referrals. We have 3 computers onsite with internet access, a printer, camaraderie events, a Purple Heart walking track, bbq grills, a kitchen and meeting room. We also have vans to help drive veterans to their VA doctor appointments, driven by volunteers- call ahead for assistance.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

Tue, Wed, Thur., 9am-1pm
Their mission is to advise, instruct and counsel claimants and to provide assistance to homeless veterans. Their chapter service officers are certified annually to assist veterans in filing claims and other benefits for which they are entitled.

Endeavors

 

Tuesdays, 9am-5pm

Endeavors' Veteran Supportive Services (VSS) rapidly re-houses and prevents homelessness among eligible Veterans and their families. Our programs offer one-on-one case management services, housing search assistance, and temporary assistance. For appointment call: 210-469-9664. Walk-ins are welcome.

Mental Health Options:

The Ecumenical Center

 

Mondays and Thursdays, 10am-4pm
Mental health counseling; faith based if desired for active military, veterans, and local first responders, including families, spouses, and dependents. Provide specialty counseling programs and offer a balance between physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects of healing. In-person and virtual are available. No fee, no referral is needed.

The Vet Center

 

Mental health counseling for veterans who meet the criteria of veteran or active duty who have experienced trauma due to combat, direct medical care of military casualties, or MST. They discuss the tragedies of war, loss, grief, and transition after trauma. There is no cost for those who qualify.

Veteran Transportation

Our office coordinates between volunteer drivers and veterans needing transportation to and from VA medical appointments, whether in San Antonio or New Braunfels. Please call at least a week in advance.
