Established in 2020
Guadalupe County Fire Rescue (GCFR) was established in 2020 to supplement the volunteer fire departments in Guadalupe County. In 2021, GCFR hired two full-time firefighters and one part-time fire administrator and began assisting in January 2022, Monday through Friday, 7am – 7pm; in our first year, GCFR responded to over 650 incidents throughout Guadalupe County. In October of 2022, the Commissioners Court approved the transition to a full-time fire department beginning FY23. GCFR hired full-time crews and began operating 24/7 on January 1st, 2023. GCFR currently has 3 shifts working a 48/96 schedule with 5 full-time staff on daily and averages over 1500 calls annually with a steady increase.
