The City of San Marcos, Hays County, Texas (City) is working with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to establish a hazardous materials route within the City limits. The route designation would require that all vehicles carrying hazardous cargo travel on the designated route to their intended point of exit, rather than travel on local streets or roads that cross the San Marcos River.
